Trellix works to deliver the most innovative and robust products, and as such may periodically choose to discontinue specific products, product versions, or solutions. This page is intended to communicate the guidelines and process for discontinuation of Trellix (FireEye Products) Offerings in order to properly equip our customers to plan for updates, migration, and the evolution of their environment.
The End of Life process for Trellix (FireEye Products) Offerings begins with the End of Sale Notification. This End of Sale Notification contains information on the discontinuation of the Offering, as well as the specific End of Sale date and associated Last Support date. Trellix will use commercially reasonable efforts to provide the End of Sale Notification a minimum of three (3) months prior to the effective End of Sale date. A Trellix (FireEye Products) Offering is considered End of Life when the Last Support date for the Trellix (FireEye Products) Offering is reached.
An appliance is comprised of Hardware and Software. To augment the End of Life Process for an appliance, Trellix implements the following processes for Last Support dates with respect to the Hardware and Software.
This applies to all Hardware and hardware components (firmware) distributed on a hardware platform. The Last Support date is five (5) years from the End of Sale date.
During the Hardware support period, Trellix will replace any failed components or product with new or reconditioned components or product (of equivalent or better quality) at the sole discretion of FireEye.
This policy applies to all Software.
Trellix will support each Software General Availability (GA) release as follows:
To provide time to upgrade, Extended Support for releases that have reached their Last Support date will be provided for six (6) months beyond the Last Support date.
Trellix strongly recommends enabling auto-update for GI releases and always using the latest GI release to ensure optimal security efficacy. GI releases will continue to be updated and provided for specific OS releases while the following statement is true:
All new features and fixes will be introduced on top of the latest GI release; however, older GI releases will remain compatible with the OS with which they were released, as documented in the Guest Image (GI) Dependency section below. GI releases may not always be forward compatible with new OS releases. Review the documentation and Release Notes before assuming that a particular set of GIs are compatible with your OS release.
SC updates will continue to be updated and provided for specific OS releases if either of the following statements is true:
Trellix will support each Endpoint Agent release as follows:
For Trellix Endpoint Agent operating system compatibility information refer to the FireEye Documentation.
System Modules follow the end of life date of the Operating System on which they were released.
For further information on Endpoint Security System Modules refer to the Endpoint Security Server User Guide in the FireEye Documentation.
FireEye will support each Endpoint Module GA release as follows:
Modules have an enforced minimum Server/Agent version; modules will not install on a Server/Agent version that does not meet this criteria.
Trellix will use commercially reasonable efforts to offer all other Trellix (FireEye Products) Offerings, for at least twelve (12) months from the date of GA release. Trellix will follow the End of Life notification process outlined above for all End of Life notifications related to Trellix (FireEye Products) Offerings not specifically listed above. The End of Life and End of Support commitments and notification processes outlined herein do not apply to any Evaluation Offerings or Unpaid Offerings (including preview features, beta releases, evaluations, and freemium content).
After the End of Sale date for a Trellix (FireEye Products) appliance, new features may not be supported or provided for the specific Hardware involved. Also, emergency bug fixes and workarounds for a problem which is identified as related to the End of Sale Hardware, which is not seen in a supported Software release with non-End of Sale Hardware, may or may not be fixed, at Trellix’s sole discretion. Software upgrade, releases are also at Trellix’s discretion.
FireEye may choose to designate a last supported Software release for an End of Sale Hardware platform in which case, only the one designated FEOS/HX OS/PX OS/IA OS X.Y or MIR OS/AFO OS X.Y.Z Software release will be supported on the specific platform until the Hardware Last Support date. Patches and maintenance releases for severity one problems may be provided at FireEye’s discretion.
When an appliance transitions through the End of Life Period, at Trellix’s discretion, Custom Software Support may be available as an exception. To be eligible for Custom Software Support, the customer must have a current and continuous support contract in place. Custom Software Support shall be subject to additional terms and conditions.
Appliance – means the Trellix (FireEye Products) Hardware and Software that comprises the whole appliance.
Hardware – means the Trellix (FireEye Products) platform hardware and hardware components (firmware) distributed on a hardware platform, for example, 4310, 7300, and 2310.
Software – means the Trellix (FireEye Products) Operating System (OS).
End of Life (EOL) Period – End of Life Period refers to the timeframe beginning with the day Trellix announces product discontinuation for a specific appliance until the last date that the appliance is formally supported. In general, after the EOL Period is announced, enhancements to the Software are not made.
End of Sale (EOS) Notification – The notification that establishes when the appliance will no longer be available for sale. EOS Notification begins the EOL process.
End of Sale (EOS) Date – The date when the specific appliance is no longer available for purchase from the Trellix price book.
Last Support Date – the last date the specific Hardware or Software is supported according to the terms of the Trellix (FireEye Products) End of Life Policy.
Extended Support – during this support period, Software feature and maintenance releases are not provided. Fixes will be provided at Trellix’s discretion and only for severity one problems.
